June 11: Sagittarius Full Moon
The Full Moon at 20°39 Sagittarius at 3:44AM ET on June 11, invites you to adventure at a turning-point moment of the year. The archer loves to chase and its favorite pursuit is the quest for truth. Sag is a striver that desires to marry reason with passion. This lunation asks you to question what you believe in order to discover what you didn't know was possible. This is an especially exciting moment as it is the first lunation ruled by Jupiter in the sign of its exaltation in over a decade.
Jupiter entered Cancer at 5:02PM ET on June 9, bringing a much needed dose of good vibes and positive energy. Jupiter is the planet of faith, abundance, prosperity, learning, and spiritual pursuits. Its favorite signs are Sagittarius, Pisces, and Cancer where it feels at home or exalted. When Jupiter transits these places we experience a collective boost and an overall sense of uplift. This is a transit that astrologers have been looking forward to for years, as it offers a counter balance to the heartbreaking hostility, violence, and repression of Saturn in Aries.
Obviously, all our problems won't immediately go away but we can certainly learn from the difficulty if we're willing to put in the effort at understanding. Best of all, there is potential for improvement and growth in the Cancer area of life. This year has been difficult so far and there is a lot shifting beneath our feet. Jupiter moving into Cancer is the W we all need right now.
The Sun in Gemini sparks our curiosity and Sagittarius seeks answers. It's the teacher with tried and true experience under their belt. The rowdy centaur wants to go everywhere and try everything because life is too short to sit around and wait for interesting things to happen to you. The praxis professor who can speak with authority in the classroom because they have touched earth (the colonial agenda of Indiana Jones is problematic, but he's an excellent example of this trope). The global citizen with a passport full of stamps who has been there and done that.
The Moon is in a fire trine with Mars in Leo so this is definitely time to act on what is lighting you up. We're called to be brave and bold with Mars in Leo and this kind of energy could carry us to delightfully unexpected places if you let it. If booking a trip would give you something to look forward to, and a much needed boost for your Summer, then this lunation encourages you to go for it!
Crossing borders has become more perilous with Pluto in Aquarius and Saturn in Aries. The oligarchical forces are consolidating their power and seeking to inhibit the exploration of everyday people because going far away broadens one's sense of self. The price for moving through space and time is going up as more countries are requiring Americans to obtain visas to enter. And getting back is more difficult as well. Many travelers report being detained and having one's privacy invaded via phone searches.
Jupiter in Cancer bestows an expansive sense of home and family. Hopefully, this transit will help people navigate the uncertain waters at borders and return safely to their home base. It should also increase a sense of love for our chosen family and global community that we share common values and beliefs. Great Jove wants to share information freely. The Electronic Frontier Foundation has created this helpful digital privacy guide to protecting personal data at the border.
The Moon in Sagittarius is known for being noble minded with an inclination towards social justice and self-improvement. Higher education is a Jupiterian endeavor to elevate the intellect and know thyself. Right wing practices have less support amongst intellectuals and artists and so these groups are always targeted first by under fascist regimes. We've been vulnerable to the current attacks on international students, free speech, and funding for universities due to Jupiter's disempowered position in Gemini. However, judges have been an important stopgap for unchecked power and the elevation of Jupiter in Cancer could help improve conditions in these areas.
Mercury entered Cancer on June 8, putting a focus on our emotions and who we trust to hold our vulnerability. For the first time all year, we have the opportunity to concretely improve relationships with Venus transiting Taurus from June 6th-July 4th. The sextile between Venus and Jupiter should make this week feel extra sweet.
Although, we might not feel unrestrained glee with Saturn and Neptune in Aries squaring Jupiter and Mercury in Cancer, but that's OK. We don't live in a perfect world, but we live in a beautiful one, and its up to each of us to ensure that we are showing up with integrity. Jupiter's square with Saturn on June 15, and Neptune on June 18, will help us stay humble.
Sagittarius is known for its ambition and exuberance. Tarot and astrology help us find balance through harmonizing. The tarot major arcana card attributed to Sagittarius is XIV Temperance, which is depicted as an angel that enters our life to rectify and restore. This card is called Alchemy in the Thoth deck and it encourages us to treat ourselves like a test subject.
Let yourself experiment over the next several weeks before the Solstice. Sag loves to f around and find out, so don't feel like you have to get things right the first time. Practice alchemy by taking the best of a situation, eliminate what isn't working, the toxins, and add in elevating and uplifting elements to create something new. The reconciliation of opposites is possible through Temperance.
The angel is a creature of the higher realms, a servant to the divine, connected to fire, who has one foot on land and another on water. We're all testing new ground with the astrological shifts this summer. Temperance invites us to take action but cautions against overdoing it. You don't need to change your whole life to see improvements. The recognition of underutilized resources will help you root where you're planted and feel more supported in chasing down your dreams at the end of Spring.
