March 29: Aries New Moon Eclipse

What a week. What a world. The Aries New Moon solar eclipse at 6:58AM ET on March 29, prepares us for the arrival of the Changemakers. March is the month of zero chill with multiple retrogrades, the Virgo South Node eclipse initiation, and the conclusion of the Aries North Node eclipses. We're staring down so many endings right now, but even more beginnings are on their way. This lunation in a supportive sextile with Jupiter in Gemini will help you heed the call to freedom.

The New Moon comes after the retrograde peaks of Venus and Mercury, and the day before Neptune enters Aries on March 30, for the first time since 1875. WOW. This is an Aries season for the history books. Take a moment to check on your ram friends because while the cardinal fire sign is known for its resilience and enjoyment of change, this is a lot for us mere mortals.

The Moon renews itself at 09°Aries, within a degree of where Venus stationed retrograde on March 1, further linking the 40 day and night journey into the underworld with the conclusion of this eclipse cycle. Venus in Aries looks at whether relationships feel fair, and, even more difficult, whether they are equal and balanced in practice of partnership (The Giver by Chappel Roan is the perfect theme song for this retrograde cycle).

The Venus cazimi at 02°39 Aries on March 22, granted insight into how to go deeper towards intimacy in your relationships; or it may have pressed the escape hatch on an unworkable situation in your partnership. The Mercury cazimi at 04°25 Aries on March 24, helped us understand what emotions and dynamics are getting worked out, but we still have a long way to go. A lot of people are struggling right now and its wonderful to lend a hand as much as possible, just like the Giver. But this New Moon is actually a great time to focus on what we can change–ourselves–rather than trying to get someone else to act differently to make us happy.

The Venus retrograde cycle concludes at the Libra Full Moon on April 12, reminding us that we need balance to feel in alignment. Being more self actualized and confident will help us show up happier and healthier within partnerships. The area of your life where Aries resides has been getting worked since the Aries-Libra eclipse cycle began in April 2023. Think back to what began at that time and how much has changed since then. The questions of war and peace have been front and center with the South Node in Libra bringing unfortunate losses for diplomacy, truth, and justice over the last several years. The eclipse cycle in Aries has brought conflict and devastating violence to innocent civilians from Gaza to the Ukraine

Many spiritual prophets and psychic seers describe human evolution as a process of moving away from a survival and competition based society, where we endlessly fight an ever shifting enemy in order to stay alive, towards an egalitarian world of compassion and sharing. There are enough resources on Earth for everyone to be well if we learn to share and co-operate. In order for this to happen, an awakening needs to flower in the heart where we remember the truth of who and what we are: 8 billion people with a common creator connected through love and light. Everything else is just an illusion. This grand finale of the Aries eclipse cycle heralds the arrival of very different energy–the spiritualizing dream of Neptune.

Aries brings about the dawn of a new day and there are several of those happening over the next several months with Neptune entering Aries on March 30 and Saturn following on May 24. Planetary conjunctions of slow moving planets bring massive change. They will hang out at the first two degrees of Aries for several months.

You may want to note down what transpired over the Venus-Mercury cazimi weekend of March 22-24, because those themes will be revised as Saturn and Neptune ride out of Aries in September and October and then back again in 2026. Neptune has a dissolving quality that causes matter to become more porous and permeable. It opens our consciousness to higher vibrations and states of dimensionality. We are asked to let go in this area of life so that Saturn can come in and construct something more functional over the next three years.

Saturn's transit through Pisces since March 2023, has been reminding us that what happens to one of us impacts all of us. We can not win through torture, domination, and oppression. This is the last Aries New Moon without Saturn co-present for several years. Enjoy the unrestrained freedom because there are going to be more severe consequences for living your truth while Saturn transits Aries from February 2026-April 2028. Aries is known for embracing evolution and initiating new development. Something new is being born in this area of life but its initiation through fire.

Aries season is the start of the astrological new year when we spring forward into the new and embrace life in all its messy glory and exhilarating potentiality. There is a sense of breaking free from what has been constraining us, which can feel inspiring. Eclipse season always brings a sense of chaos, and too much tumult is not good for the nervous system. Give yourself permission to lay low as the Moon wanes this week.

It is normal to feel depleted during eclipse season, as if you don't have access to an essential element required for full vitality. The solar eclipse vanishes the exalted Sun; removing something from our life that we had held up high or considered in great regard. The terror it has inspired in humans is from the confrontation with the void. It forces us to focus on the hole that is within us, the sense of absence at the center of the sense of Self. The best advice for this eclipse is to embrace the discomfort that arises and see what light is present when we go deep within the heart of darkness.

Since ancient times, eclipses have been associated with heads of state and the ruler of the people. The king has long been a metaphor for the spiritual and physical well being of the land and its populace. The Emperor's New Clothes is a fable that describes those willing to go along with vanity and lies for the sake of maintaining their position in a corrupt order. Aries inspires us to speak truth to power and be the s/hero willing to take an unpopular stand. This New Moon asks us to set aside discomfort, step into the light, and articulate reality for what it is. Issues of shame and fear of persecution may arise, but no one is free while others are oppressed and when we fight for a righteous cause, even in the name of someone else, it is ourselves who become liberated through the process.

Mercury in retrograde motions stands at the sacred equinox degree 00° Aries at the New Moon in a sextile with Pluto in Aquarius. Aries encourages us to think in positive, in future oriented directions, but retrogrades always bring confusion and expose what is happening beneath the surface. Sometimes information is leaked intentionally or otherwise. We need to pay close attention to what's happening right now in regard to human rights and the sanctity of life. Big brother is watching us, knows where we go, shop, travel, our entertainment preferences, and what we buy. Pluto's entrance into Aquarius in November 2024, foretold a tenuous moment for collective advancement or disempowerment.

Unfortunately, Pluto in Aquarius, an air sign connected with egalitarianism or authoritarianism, has brought the worst possible manifestations for technology and leadership. Those in power want to deregulate technology without regard for environmental sustainability and at the expense of personal liberty. Privacy and cyber security protection could vanish over the next twenty years as Pluto empowers cruel hearts who use the system to maintain power and control rather than to facilitate the flow of life. The richest men in the world are seeking to consolidate their power. Their greed knows no end and their quest for worldwide domination involves leaving earth behind to make a new world on Mars because they haven't learned how to co-exist.

The Aries New Moon solar eclipse creates an opening for potential and asks: what are you going to do about it? This is a call to action and a reminder that we all have choices. We can't do everything but everyone can do something. A new path is opening. Let me know in what direction you feel inspired to go.
